Custom Residence
This stone clad home has multiple levels with clerestories and large roof overhangs. The soils were highly expansive resulting in a large structural basement floor over crawl space design. The home surrounds a pool and courtyard with large water feature element in the back yard. Expansive window layouts made for the structural design of hidden steel frames in order to meet wind loading requirements in the area. Location: Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Project completed while Owner was employed at Ascent Group Inc.

Mixed Use Project, commercial with residential above
Downtown Longmont, Colorado has taken great steps toward its downtown redevelopment. This mixed use building bookends the north side of the central business district. The contemporary design relied on large open areas, modern building materials and architectural details for a fresh mixed-use urban feel. Large open areas are featured on the interior which required long spanning structural elements to minimize the use of interior columns. Through creative problem solving, a framing layout was generated to maintain an open, airy feeling consistent with today’s urban lofts. Project completed while Owner was employed at Ascent Group Inc.

Nature's Oasis Grocery Store
Nature’s Oasis is a natural food store located in Durango, Colorado. The building has a total of 20,700 square feet and is constructed with steel bar joists and timber beams bearing on structural steel framing and masonry bearing walls. Clerestories throughout the building create vaulted spaces to bring natural light into the store. The large central clerestory is supported by custom engineered roof trusses with glue-laminated beams and steel rod members creating visibly pleasing and interesting exposed structural elements for patrons to admire. Project completed while Owner was employed at Ascent Group Inc.
